Seoul Taco
When you walk into a stadium, your expectations for food usually fall somewhere between passable and deep-fried. So when I saw Korean BBQ burritos and Seoul-sauced tacos on the menu at Seoul Taco, tucked away in Section 208 at Energizer Park, I was cautiously optimistic. Could this really work in a stadium setting?
Spoiler: It didn’t just work. It blew me away.
Episode 6 of Pitchside Plates takes us on a flavor journey I wasn’t prepared for, and one I highly recommend you take yourself. Whether you’re a die-hard food adventurer or just trying to feed your kids something beyond chicken fingers, Seoul Taco delivers bold, satisfying flavor in every bite.
⚽ Match Vibe Check: STL City SC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps (0–0 Draw)
Let’s get this out of the way: the match itself was... fine. Not a loss, not a win. A stalemate that felt like a small win considering Vancouver’s recent run. But in the food game? Seoul Taco left the Whitecaps in the dust. While the scoreboard stayed flat, our taste buds had one heck of a night.
📍 Where to Find Seoul Taco
You’ll find Seoul Taco at Section 208, right by the Plaza. It’s a popular spot with a great view, so foot traffic stays pretty consistent. I saw lines come in waves; they looked long, but moved fast. If you’ve got the City app and membership perks, mobile ordering is available, and you can apply your discount.
Atmosphere-wise, it’s lively, energetic, and the perfect pit stop before kickoff. But word of advice: if you’re trying to eat right before the game starts, expect a wait. Your best bet is to swing by early or wait until just after kickoff.
🌮 Dish 1: Chicken Tacos – $16.99
Let’s start strong. The Chicken Tacos are amazing. For $16.99, you get three corn tortillas layered with juicy chicken, a crunchy sesame vinaigrette salad mix, scallions, sesame seeds, and a generous drizzle of Seoul Sauce. A lime wedge on the side adds brightness if you want to balance the savory with citrus.
👀 First Impressions
These are hand-crafted. Every taco was neatly built, and the sauce presentation felt gourmet. Honestly, if you handed this to me at a full-service restaurant, I wouldn’t blink, but in the stadium, it really stood out.
😋 Flavor – 3/3
If you’ve never tried Korean food before, this is the gateway dish. The chicken is seasoned to perfection, with just enough richness to stand out without overwhelming the other toppings. The Seoul sauce brought it all together, savory with a hint of sweetness, and low on spice so it won’t scare off younger or spice-sensitive fans.
Every bite was balanced, and the tortillas held their shape well without cracking or getting soggy. Pro tip: Eat slowly. These are tacos to savor.
💵 Value – 2/3
At around $6 per taco after tax, it’s not cheap, but this isn’t your basic ground beef setup. The quality and portion size give it value, even if it doesn’t include sides. I’d pair it with corn elote or a drink to round out the meal if you’re eating it by yourself.
👨👩👧 Shareability – 3/3
These are perfect for sharing. You get three tacos, so they split easily, but fair warning: after one bite, you’ll probably want to keep the other two for yourself.
🧒 Dish 2: Kids’ Chicken Tacos – $14.99
I was genuinely surprised, in a good way, by Seoul Taco’s effort on the Kids’ Chicken Tacos. You still get three tacos, but this time the ingredients are pared down: just chicken and Monterey Jack cheese in a soft corn tortilla.
👀 First Impressions
Less colorful, less saucy, but that’s the point. It’s made for picky eaters. These looked clean and simple, and the amount of chicken packed into each was impressive.
😋 Flavor – 2/3
The cheese tones down the boldness of the Korean-style chicken, which is exactly what a kid (or even an adult with a plainer palate) might want. I will say, the cheese wasn’t fully melted, but that might actually help when customizing for picky eaters, as it is easy to pick off.
💵 Value – 2/3
$14.99 feels like a lot for “simpler” tacos, especially when the fully loaded version is just $3 more. But the quantity of meat helps justify it. You’re not getting cheated, you’re just not getting Seoul sauce either. If you are on the fence, get the non-child version.
👨👩👧 Shareability – 3/3
Just as easy to divide as the regular tacos. If you’ve got two kids, great. If you’ve got three, prepare for negotiations.
🌯 Dish 3: Bulgogi Steak Burrito – $19.99
This is it. The main event. The Bulgogi Steak Burrito is a full-on meal wrapped in a warm flour tortilla, and probably the most unexpected thing I’ve ever eaten at a soccer match.
Inside? Bulgogi steak, kimchi fried rice, shredded cheese, green onion, and carrots. It comes with three dipping sauces: Seoul sauce, wasabi sauce, and sour cream. I didn’t know what most of these ingredients were until I looked them up later!
👀 First Impressions
This burrito was a unit. Heavy, packed, warm to the touch, and held together nicely even when cut open. It smelled incredible, and just unwrapping it on the counter overlooking the Lou Fusz Plaza turned a few heads that hadn’t seen it before.
😋 Flavor – 3/3
The bulgogi steak is rich and flavorful with that signature Korean BBQ umami kick. Pair that with the fried rice and creamy cheese, and you’ve got a burrito that’s filling, balanced, and shockingly elegant. The wasabi was mild but tangy, and the Seoul sauce works with everything.
This wasn’t just tasty. This was memorable.
💵 Value – 3/3
$19.99 sounds steep, but this thing could feed two adults. I shared it with my family and still had bites left over. No sides needed, no regrets had.
👨👩👧 Shareability – 2/3
You can share it, but only if you cut it smartly. Halves work. Thirds? Not so much. Once you lose the ends, everything starts spilling out. It’s built to stay wrapped, so treat it accordingly. We tried cutting it into thirds and had to eat the middle section with a fork, but that wasn’t so bad either.
💡 Tips & Takeaways
Use the STL City app to mobile order and apply discounts. Huge help.
The best time to visit is 30 minutes before kickoff or after the game starts. Avoid peak line times.
Kid-Friendly: Seoul Taco is one of the few vendors with a real kid-specific option, and it’s a good one.
Instagram Moment: The burrito unwrap. I caught it on video, and it’s pure visual satisfaction.
Surprise Bonus: I liked it so much… I visited their brick-and-mortar store later that weekend.
🧾 Final Verdict: A Top-Tier Stadium Meal
Seoul Taco surprised me in so many ways. I wasn’t familiar with the food flavors or ingredients, but that added to the experience. Take the risk and go on the adventure to try something new, and make it this stop. You will want to eat this every time. Unfortunately, this was the only win on the night as the team tied, but when you eat something this wonderful, it helps you forget the game!
Whether you’re looking to share tacos with your family, give your kids a reliable (and filling) option, or try something new for yourself, this vendor delivers.
