Steve’s Hotdogs

On July 13th, 2025, STL City SC faced Portland in a heated matchup, and while the boys brought home a 2–1 victory on the field, I had my own food challenge to tackle in the stands. Just a few steps from the center line in Section 106 sits Steve’s Hot Dogs, one of the only vendors in the stadium that serves fans both outside before the game and inside once you’ve passed through the gates.

This visit had one big question: could Steve’s deliver a win on the plate to match the win on the pitch? I tried two items, the St. Louis City Dog and the Loaded Louligan Fries. One was amazing, the other fell flat, but which one was which.

Ordering Experience

One of the perks at Steve’s is how easy it is to order. You can use the stadium app to skip the line entirely, not that I’ve ever seen a long one here. This convenience, combined with its location right at the center line, makes it an easy stop for fans grabbing food before kickoff or at halftime. The mobile pickup is set up nicely to the side so you’re not jostling through crowds.

Dish 1: St. Louis City Dog

Price: $13.99
Description: Smoked and grilled all-beef dog topped with provolone, grilled onions, grilled peppers, banana peppers, smoked pepper mustard, and bacon.

First Impressions:
This thing was absolutely loaded. It had so much that the hotdog itself was nearly hidden under the mountain of toppings. While it looked like a meal fit for a champion, it seemed too good to be true.

Budget Friendliness (1/3):
Fourteen dollars for a single hotdog is a tough sell, especially when it’s not a footlong or a truly unique creation. At that price point, I want a hotdog that’s going to stand out as something I can only get here at the stadium, and this didn’t quite do that.

Shareability (1/3):
Yes, you can split it, but all those toppings make it messy. I cut mine in half, and each piece was barely three bites. It’s just not practical for sharing without losing half the toppings along the way.

Flavor (1/3):
The taste wasn’t bad at all, and in fact, it was good. But it wasn’t anything special. In a stadium packed with inventive dishes and bold flavors, this felt like something I could find at any ballpark in the country. If you love a traditional hotdog dressed up with extras, you’ll enjoy it. If you’re looking for something memorable, you might walk away underwhelmed.

Dish 2: Loaded Louligan Fries

Price: $11.99
Description: Crinkle cut fries topped with shredded cheddar, garlic, cream cheese, honey chipotle BBQ sauce, and bacon.

First Impressions:
Now we’re talking. Unlike the hotdog, these fries didn’t try to be something they weren’t. They were hot, crispy, generously topped, and the bacon was plentiful.

Budget Friendliness (3/3):
Twelve bucks for a tray this size is actually a good value in stadium terms, and it’s filling and could even work as a shared snack for two.

Shareability (3/3):
Pro tip for any visit to the stadium: ask for an extra tray. It makes splitting much easier and keeps everyone’s portion neat. These fries lend themselves perfectly to sharing without feeling like you’re sacrificing your half.

Flavor (2/3):
The shredded cheddar was a welcome change from the typical liquid cheese you see dumped on fries. It was melted just enough to bind to the fries without creating a soggy mess. Add in smoky bacon, tangy-sweet BBQ sauce, and a hint of garlic from the cream cheese, and you’ve got a snack that hits all the right notes.

Atmosphere & Extras

Steve’s is situated in a lively spot at the stadium, giving you a clear view of the pitch action if you want to linger nearby before heading back to your seat. While there’s no kids menu, the absence of spice in these dishes means younger fans should be fine eating them. And if you’re pairing with a drink, the fries in particular would go great with a cold beer or a crisp soda.

Tips & Takeaways

  • Best Time to Visit: Lines are usually short, so you can swing by pregame or during halftime without worrying about missing the action.

  • Mobile Ordering: This is one of the nicest mobile pickup setups in the stadium. It is quick, easy, and out of the main foot traffic.

  • Skip or Snag?: Skip the City Dog unless you’re a die-hard hotdog fan. Go for the Louligan Fries if you want a shareable, satisfying snack.

  • Final Verdict: Steve’s went one-for-two in my book. The City Dog didn’t bring anything new to the table, but the Louligan Fries earned a solid spot on my “order again” list.

Post-Meal Satisfaction:
While I walked away happy thanks to the fries, I wouldn’t come back here just for the hotdog. With so many creative vendors in the stadium, your money might be better spent elsewhere unless you’re really craving a classic.
