Deweys Pizza

Episode 16 | Date: August 30, 2025
Match: STL City SC vs Houston Dynamo
Vendor: Dewey’s Pizza, Section 140

Game nights are for goals, chants, and quick bites that keep you moving. For Episode 16, I went to Dewey’s Pizza at Energizer Park, Section 140, during STL City vs Houston on August 30, 2025. We didn’t get the result on the field, losing 3–2, but I still had a job to do: find out if a Dewey’s slice is worth the walk and the wallet.

How the market works
Dewey’s runs a walk-in market, similar to Anthonino’s. You scan your credit card or app at the gate, pick up what you want, and walk straight out. Cameras track items and charge you automatically. It is simple, fast, and great when you want to sprint back to your seat. The tradeoff is zero customization and minimal human interaction. If you buy alcohol, staff will open it for you, which is the only personal touch in the experience.

Pepperoni slice: small and sleepy
I started with pepperoni. At $9.99, I expected a slice that filled the box or at least felt like a meal. Instead, my slice looked like it had been cut for a kid’s plate. It left space around the edges of the box, and the crust felt limp. Temperature matters with pizza and this one had cooled off. The first bite told the same story: standard sauce, average cheese, pepperoni that never crisped at the edges. Nothing bad on paper, but nothing was exciting either. When a slice is small and lukewarm, it becomes forgettable fast.

Cheese slice: basic but better
Then the cheese slice arrived like a small redemption arc. Same price, different result. This one filled the box, looked freshly melted, and passed the bend test with a little backbone. It was warm, which helped the sauce and cheese feel more in sync. The bite was smoother, the texture more cohesive. It is still a basic stadium slice, but it finally felt like what I wanted from a quick grab-and-go pizza in the middle of a match.

Ratings recap (3-star scale)

  • Pepperoni Slice

    • Budget Friendliness: 1/3

    • Shareability: 1/3

    • Flavor: 1/3

    • Notes: small, underheated, standard taste

  • Cheese Slice

    • Budget Friendliness: 1/3

    • Shareability: 1/3

    • Flavor: 1/3

    • Notes: warm, fuller slice, better texture

Value and shareability
At $9.99 per slice, both options struggle on value and shareability. You could split one between two small kids, but for adults it is a solo snack. If the pepperoni matched the cheese slice in size and warmth, the value equation would feel less harsh. Consistency is the biggest fix Dewey’s can make right now.

Who should buy what
If you need a fast bite and want something reliable, the cheese slice is the safer order. The pepperoni has a higher ceiling when the edges crisp and the slice comes out hot, but that wasn’t the slice in my box. Your mileage may vary based on timing. If you catch a fresh tray, your experience could be better.

Kid-friendliness
No designated kids’ meal here, but the cheese slice is a kid-friendly win. The size is manageable, and the flavor is familiar. If you have two young eaters, splitting one cheese slice will tide them over until halftime.

Tips for this stand
Go straight to the market if the concourse looks jammed and you want speed. Grab napkins on your way out. Check the heat by hovering your palm over the box. If it feels lukewarm, consider swapping for another slice before you exit.

Would I go back?
Not likely. There are stronger values and more memorable flavors around Energizer Park. Dewey’s cheese slice earns a nod for better execution, but overall, I want either a better size for the price or a step up in flavor.

After the last bite
I left hungry and had to find more food. If you want pizza in the stadium, time it well so you catch a fresh batch. Otherwise, skip the pepperoni and go with cheese, then plan on a second snack.

Suggested improvements
Standardize slice size, keep batches smaller so pies cycle hot, and consider a pepperoni that crisps faster. That alone would lift flavor and value.

Final word
Dewey’s Pizza at Section 140 delivers speed and convenience. The cheese slice can be decent when warm, but value and shareability miss the mark for both slices. If pizza is your move, time it carefully or choose another vendor for better bang for your buck.
